The annual Rotary Club of Buckhead Foundation Ball will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Cherokee Town Club in Buckhead. With over 175 members, the Buckhead Rotary Club is the second largest Rotary Club in Atlanta. The annual Foundation Ball raises funds for projects of the club, which include Hillside Cottages, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Project Open Hand, Pets For Vets, Horizon Summer Learning Camps, and many more.
Doug Shipman, president and CEO of Atlanta’s Woodruff Arts Center, will be honored at the 2018 Buckhead Rotary Club Foundation Ball. The Woodruff is the third-largest arts organization in the country and includes the Alliance Theatre, the High Museum of Art, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Prior to his current position, Doug was the founding CEO of Atlanta’s National Center for Civil and Human Rights. He led this organization through nine years of development and stepped down from the job in June of 2015 to become CEO of Atlanta’s Brighthouse.
Prior to launching the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Doug was a principal with the Boston Consulting Group working in the New York, Mumbai and Atlanta offices. He is a recognized speaker on the topics of human rights, social movements, and diversity.
Doug has a Masters of Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, a Masters of Theological Studies from the Harvard Divinity School, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science from Emory University.
